My brother has an amazing crash story. Actually, no real crash occurred but that is what makes this story amazing. He managed to get away without a single scratch on himself and the car that he drove that night was left undamaged.
It all started while he was working overtime one night at the office. It was about eight o'clock in the evening. He was just going about his usual work that he always does at the office. It was just a regular night of clocking in some overtime and everything was going the way it always did.
At around nine o'clock, his cell phone started ringing. It was an urgent phone call from our mother. It was the night that we had to rush our grandmother to the hospital and our mother wanted my brother to come home right away. My brother is really close to our grandmother so this phone call really alarmed him. He had to drop everything that he was doing and rush home. (Our grandmother is fine by the way; today she is doing okay.)
The distance from my brother's office and our house is not that far and luckily that night, the traffic was not as horrendous as it usually always is. Wanting to get home as soon as he could, my brother was speeding down the highway, driving at top speed. All the while, he was getting more anxious and worried about the condition of our grandmother. Dreadful thoughts of what kind of news he might come home to was racing in his head. Tried as he could, it was difficult to shake them off. These thoughts clouding his mind coupled with his fast driving was impairing his concentration on the road.
My brother found himself stuck behind a slow car and he honked the car horn to signal that he was in a hurry. Even with his incessant honking, the slow car showed no signs of moving to the slower lane. My brother had no choice but to move to the highway lane intended for wider and bigger vehicles.
He did not see the 18-wheeler truck coming. The truck came barreling behind him. The slow car was right at his side leaving him no room to get out of the truck's way. Seeing that he was about to get into an accident, all my brother could do was close his eyes and step on the brakes as hard as he could. In those few short moments, he started praying. He waited for the car to hit the truck as he felt the car do a 180 degree turn.
The car screeched to a halt and he waited a few more moments before he opened his eyes. Miraculously, the car stopped just right underneath the truck that had stopped as well. He couldn't believe what had happened. He was okay, the car was okay - he still cannot believe how lucky he was up to this day. He still wonders how in the world he managed to walk away from that car crash - the car crash that was not a car crash, but could have been fatal if it did happen.
