Gambling is probably not a good thing. At least in excess but that can be said about anything anyone does. Too much healthy food is bad for you. Seems repugnant, but that's the case. Too much driving can ruin your eyes. Too much eating can make you fat. Too much swimming can make your arms go numb then you drown. Stuff like that.
My girlfriend and I enjoy taking day trips and weekend trips and all that. She decided she wanted to spend a little dough gambling. Atlantic City is her destination of choice but who in hell wants to drive there? You have to park a mile away in the parking garages of the casinos then walking to the casino is a grueling task and we're fat so we decided the best scenario was to take a bus.
Sure, bus trips give everyone thoughts of old people. And you wouldn't be wrong. We're in our early thirties sitting on a bus where the average age is death. We figured that we're gonna stay two days to get some real vacation time in. See, the bus costs $25.00 and they give you $20.00 back to play with at the casino. You'd spend more on gas if you drove yourself!
The trip itself was fun despite getting hosed at the boardwalk dart board. On the way home we were stuck in the infamous traffic outside of Philly. I'm talking bumper to bumper. It's hot as the seventh layer of hell outside and the bus' air conditioner wasn't really working all that well so we're sweating.
The traffic lets up and we start moving again. A collective sigh of relief hit the bus since we're getting closer to being out of this nightmare. Then bam - more traffic! I'm ready to get off the bus and walk home. I would have if I wasn't lazy. I looked out my window and stared out into the distance and this jerk off on a motorcycle comes speeding up between the lanes between the vehicles and it's just not highly illegal but it's also so very, very stupid.
Honking horns and people stuck in traffic screaming are ended once we start moving again, albeit slowly, about thirty minutes later!
We approach an overpass and we slow down as we rubber neck noticing the motorcycle from earlier embedded under the metal thing just before the overpass that signifies the different routes off the exit. Several police cars and an ambulance on scene to try and help the guy. Never found out what happened to him but either way, his bike was trashed big time.
Incidentally the traffic let up and we were merrily on our way home when low and behold, ahead on the right were two cars that were involved in an accident with one facing against the traffic. People standing around shaking their heads and such and ‘m trying to figure out hoe on earth that other car was facing other direction.
In the end, taking the bus was a good idea as bus accidents don't come up all that often.
